School of Education
Curriculum
Music education majors get a strong foundation in music theory and performance, as well as teaching methods specific to music and the arts.
Music education students choose a music emphasis for both performance and conducting/teaching methods courses: brass, choral/general (voice), woodwind, percussion or strings. You can expand your performance skills and experience even more with the performance honors program.
Courses on the history of schooling, principles of inclusive classrooms, literacy across the curriculum and methods for teaching music and performance.
Field placements in local schools and community organizations include a full-time, multiweek student-teaching experience in the spring of your senior year.
Extracurricular Opportunities
Experience the World
